Live to be 80?

Will I live to be 80?
I recently turned 65 and had to choose a new primary care physician for my Medicare program.
After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age.
A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I will live to be 80?'
He asked: Do you smoke tobacco or drink alcoholic beverages?'
'Oh no,' I replied. 'I don't do drugs, either.'
'Do you have many friends and entertain frequently?'
'I said, 'No, I usually stay home and keep to myself'.
'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?'
I said, 'No, my other doctor said that all red meat is unhealthy!'
'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or MOTORCYCLING?'
'No, I don't,' I said.
'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, bikes or have a lot of sex?'
'No,' I said. 'I don't do any of those things.'He looked at me and said,
'Then why do you give a shit?'

That's right! Why do you give a shit! Brother you've got to get out there and LIVE! LOL! Don't worry, I know better than that. If we worried about everything we do, we would never have any fun. My philosophy on all that is, try to be sensible with your food choices, try to stay active for exercise, and live each day to the fullest! WHEN I make it to 80, I'll sit on my front porch and reflect on all the fun and adventures I had in my life. I won't be whining about everything I missed out on because I was afraid it was going to shorten my life somehow. Life is what you make it! Lady R

Amen, Amen...I don't know if I will be here tomorrow. All I know is that I have today, with a possibility of tomorrow and a wisdom gained from the past. Hope I live until 80, but the key word in that sentence is "live" brother.

Lady R and Dave both have it right. You are only as old as you think, act, and feel. So I guess I must be 27 and my sister is 57! (we are really 40 and 41-LOL)

"What is time anyway?" a good friend of mine always asked. In his eulogy they talked about "a time for laughter, and a time for sorrow...etc" and how Brian would have disagreed! He took no time for the dull & depressing. He truly LIVED every day of his life. He was killed by a drunk driver at age 22.

This is Hilarious!
I have no idea how long I'll be on this planet, so I pack as much life into every day as I can. When at last my ride is over, I will not go gracefully leaving behind a well preserved body... I'm gonna slide in full throttle, tore up & worn out smiling from ear to ear & screaming "Damn, What a ride... Let's go again!"
