There is a GREAT city in Northeast China called Dalian. Originally established by Russia, then later occupied by Japan, Dalian has a long history as an international sea port supporting commerce and tourism from Japan, Korea, and other traditional Asian regions for over a century.
The town is known for their fantastic fresh seafood, which I had the pleasure to enjoy on two separate occasions, but one of the coolest things is their policewomen that stand on a pedestal in the middle of the street and direct traffic with their white go-go boots (if you are old enough to remember those).
